OHADAC and ACP Legal

The worldwide notoriety and success of OHADA (Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa) led numerous jurists, companies and certain Governments of the Caribbean States to brainstorm on the implementation of the unification of business law in the Caribbean that would be reminiscent of the OHADA philosophy.

The partisans of this project, called OHADAC (Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in the Caribbean), decided to meet within the framework of the association ACP Legal, to help interested Caribbean States to implement the project.

Caribbean States concerned by the project include: ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES, BAHAMAS, BARBADOS, BELIZE, BERMUDA, COLOMBIA, COSTA RICA, CUBA, DOMINICA, GRENADA, GUADELOUPE, GUATEMALA, GUYANA, FRENCH GUIANA, HAITI, HONDURAS, JAMAICA, MARTINIQUE, MEXICO, MONTSERRAT, NICARAGUA, PANAMA, PUERTO RICO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS, SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES, SAINT LUCIA, SURINAME, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, VENEZUELA.

The progress of the OHADAC project can be followed-up on the website www.ohadac.com. It aims at consolidating the economic integration of the whole Caribbean Region, and following the example of the OHADA reform undertaken in Africa, the OHADAC process will also allow this region of the world to have a law, that is internationally respected and recognised, and consolidates the trust of investors and exchanges.
