Mediation as a prior or alternative way to arbitration is at the heart of the OHADAC project of dispute resolution, because it could provide better solutions to conflict resolution, especially for the Caribbean small and medium businesses.
The American Arbitration Association University (AAAU) organizes at least six courses of this practice in New York from October 1st to 5th, San Francisco, October 15th to 19th , Dallas, November 12th to 16th , Washington D.C., from November 12th to 16th , Miami, December 3rd to 7th, and New Orleans, at the same dates.
But the main event of the fall will be the World Forum of Mediation Centres, created in 2001 by the Mediation and Conflict Prevention Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats. It brings together the most important commercial mediation and ADR centres from around the world and offers an occasion to exchange views on the development of ADR and best practices. It is also an occasion for centres to collaborate on specific programmes.
The Forum meets every 9 months. The working sessions are interactive and animated by high-level experts. This year the event will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, with the presence of Dr. Isis C. Clemente, mediator, professor of business law at Miami Dade College, linguist, writer and president of ACP Legal United States.
