Chaired by Mr. José Manuel BAROSO, President of the European Commission was held the second forum of the overseas regions of the European Union, which include Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Martin, Saint Barth, and French Guyana. To facilitate the regional integration of these territories, a partnership with the European Union was established.
Mr. Victorin LUREL, French minister of overseas, the initiator of the OHADAC, the project of harmonization of business law in the Caribbean and the creation of a regional mediation and arbitration center, has highlighted the initiatives taken by Guadeloupe and Martinique to lay the groundwork for cooperation with the OECS (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States) and CARICOM-CARIFORUM countries.
In this perspective, and as part of the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and CARIFORUM, a delegation of ACP Legal will soon visit in Georgetown, Guyana, the CARIFORUM headquarters, to study the prospects for regional integration through business law and ADR.
