We are delighted to announce the organisation under the patronage of the Illustre Collegi d'Advocats de Barcelona of the International Arbitration Congress that will be attended by many great figures of arbitration: Bernardo M. Cremades, Yves Fortier (Norton Rose Law Firm), Luis Martinez (ICDR), Antonio Hierro (Spanish Arbitration Club), John Beechey (ICC), Gonzalo Stampa and many others.
The event will address several issues: recent trends and changes in the international arbitration rules, financial arbitration, energy & construction arbitration and investment arbitration.
It will also probably address the success of the OHADA arbitration in Africa and the state of progress of the OHADAC arbitration system, in the Caribbean.
Let us also hope that this congress will be an opportunity for the international arbitration community to have an update on the issue of conflicts of interest, in the context of the unbelievable case of a highly reputed international sole arbitrator, partner of a major north-American law firm, hopelessly conflicted and having consequently resigned, wherein a partial award rendered in the corresponding ICDR arbitration case still bears legal effects, to the dismay of the entire international arbitration community.
