ACP Legal participates in the European Union - Dominican Republic Forum, celebrating the European Partnership Agreement, Santo Domingo, May 8-9, 2012

09 05 2012

Alianza-Economica-tnThanks to an initiative of the European Union delegation in the Dominican Republic led by HE Doña Irene Horejs, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union and the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) led by Minister Eddie Martinez, a trade show is held followed by the European Day in the building of the Institute of Foreign Trade and business Innovation (ICER), in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

In this framework, a lecture by the new President of ACP Legal, -Dominican Chapter-, Mr. Hugo Ramirez, in presence of the Director General of Cariforum, Mr. Ivan Ogando, allowed to introduce the OHADAC project to the public and to the European officials.

From this important event we must underline two major news:

  • The European Investment Bank (EIB) decided to move its regional headquarters from Martinique to the Dominican Republic according to its regional head of delegation, Mr. Yves Ferreira, confirming the enhanced institutional credibility of this country in the Caribbean;
  • The Cariforum should put the OHADAC project of harmonization of trade rules in the Caribbean, within the framework of the priorities of the Economic Partnership Agreement EU-Cariforum, as considered by the Director General of the institution.

In this regard a delegation of ACP Legal should travel in late May to Georgetown, Guyana.
