First Joint Seminar of presentation of the OHADA Treaty and OHADAC project at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, December 21st, 2011, 11.30 AM

Armonizacion-del-derecho-mercantil-en-Africa-tnUnder the auspices of Dr. Josep Maria de Dios i Marcer, illustrious Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and the initiative of Dr. Rafael Arenas García, Professor of Private International Law, will take place the First OHADA / OHADAC Presentation Seminar in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Law at the UAB in Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona).

The Conference, supported by the associations UNIDA, chaired by Judge Seydou Ba, and ACP LEGAL, conducted by Magistrate Catherine Sargenti, will be an opportunity to present to the Catalonian legal community both legal integration projects.

After the seminar introduction by Dr. Josep Maria de Dios i Marcer, Professor of Private International Law and Dean of the Faculty of Law at UAB, Dr. Rafael Garcia Arenas will moderate a discussion panel followed by some interventions by:

  • Dr. Yoselyn A. Bermudez Abreu, professor at the University of Zulia (LUZ), Venezuela, ACP Legal Venezuelan Chapter President: “The OHADAC, an international organization, its priorities & work plan”
  • Mr. Jose M. Cueto Alvarez de Sotomayor, Attorney-at-Law, former official of the Office of European Union Cooperation for ACP countries, expert in the implementation of the OHADA Treaty in Sub-Saharan Africa, ACP Legal advisor for the OHADAC: “The OHADA, implementation & perspectives”;
  • Mr. Jean Reale, OHADAC Secretary General, ACP Legal Dominican Republic: “The OHADAC, genesis of a project of legal integration”.

Participants will study the current projects of harmonization of business Laws as part of the political and economic integration of Africa and the Caribbean, and in particular for the latter under the UE-Cariforum Economic Partnership Agreement.
