Jose Ricardo Feris will succeed Simon Greenberg as Deputy Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, in January 2012, ICC announced.
Mr. Feris, who is currently Managing Counsel of the Court and Secretary of the ICC Latin American Arbitration Group, will assume his duties at the end of January 2012.
Prior to joining ICC, Mr. Feris served as a law clerk at the U.N. International Court of Justice in The Hague and worked for the Legal Advisor to the President of the Dominican Republic.
John Beechey, Chairman of the Court said: “I congratulate Jose on his appointment and look forward to working with him in his new capacity as Deputy Secretary General”.
Mr. Feris holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic and an LLM in International Legal Studies from New York University. In addition to Spanish, his native language, Mr. Feris speaks English, French and Portuguese.
Mr. Feris said: “I look forward to contributing in my new role to the adaptation of established procedures and the development of new practices in arbitration”.
