In Maracaibo, a Venezuelan Caribbean city of more than 3 million inhabitants, under the initiative and coordination of Prof. Lissette B. Romay Inciarte and Prof. Gerardo Ulloa Bellorin from the ACP Legal Venezuelan Chapter chaired by Professor Yoselyn A. Bermudez Abreu, the Universities of Zulia (LUZ) and Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacin (URBE) organized the 1st International Meeting on Harmonization of Business Law in the Caribbean and Creation of a Regional Court of Arbitration, October 28th to 29th.
This event has been attended by the Academic vice Rector of URBE, Dr. Rene Aguirre Bracho, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the organizing University, Dr. Alfredo Hernandez Osorio, the Heads of Chairs of Universities, regional representatives of the judiciary administration, business registers, lawyers and undergraduate & graduate students.
In addition to a lecture about arbitration by Professor Dr. Pedro Jedlicka Zapata from the Catholic University Andrés Bello (UCAB) and Monte Avila University (both from Caracas), Attorney at Law at Imery Urdaneta Law firm, it is worth noting two papers presenting the OHADAC by the ACP Legal Venezuelan Chapter President, Pr. Yoselyn Bermudez Abreu, and Jean Reale with the presence of media and over 300 registered lawyers.
The next day, reserved for post grade students, a second round of talks has been organized with two presentations on ?Requirements for Creating an Arbitration Center? by Pr. Teresa Navarro de Finol and ?Conflict Resolution? by Pr. Lucy Amado, in addition to "OHADAC, genesis and goals" by Jean Reale from ACP Legal.
