ACP Legal meeting with HE Hipólito Mejía, former President of the Dominican Republic and next presidential candidate, Lamentin, Guadeloupe, May 28, 2011.
Mrs. Catherine Sargenti, President of ACP Legal, introduced to President Mejía the main focus concerning the project of harmonization of business law in the Caribbean (OHADAC), a project supported by the European Union, the Regions of Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guyana, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Islands of Guadeloupe, whose objective is to reduce legal barriers that hinder economic cooperation in the Caribbean. She did an update on the progress of this project noting that a European tender has been launched for the inventory of legal rules governing business law in the Greater Caribbean and for a comparative study of legal regimes.
The meeting was attended by the delegation of Saint Lucia visiting Guadeloupe, José Toribio, Mayor of Lamentin, Jean Claude Malo, mayor of Bouillante, Jean Marie Hubert, General Counsel of Guadeloupe, Alberto Despradel, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Miguel Faruk, Advisor to the Senate of the Dominican Republic, Amélius Hernandez, SAEAG President and General Counsel, Julien Mérion, Chairman of Cereca, Zunilda Corcino Jezequel, Association Guadeloupe Santo Domingo President.
