OHADAC meetings in Madrid

The Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, Faculty of Law organized the V International Seminar on Private International Law on "Trends in the evolution of Private International Law", March 24th and 25th, with the collaboration of the European Commission and the Madrid Notary Association.

The opening ceremony has been held in the presence of the Hon. Raúl CANOSA USERA, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University Complutense of Madrid, the Hon. Mr. Francisco J. FONSECA MORILLO, Head of the European Commission Representation in Spain, the Hon. José Manuel SUÁREZ ROBLEDANO, Magistrate at the Madrid Superior Court of Justice.

A specific workshop has been devoted to the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in the Caribbean (OHADAC) with three lectures given by Magistrate Catherine SARGENTI, President of ACP LEGAL, on "OHADAC, a Caribbean initiative", Prof. Dr. Sixto A. SÁNCHEZ LORENZO, University of Grenada, on "OHADAC, Strategies for the harmonisation of Business law in the Caribbean and the Guyanas" and Prof. Dr. Rodolfo DÁVALOS FERNÁNDEZ, University of Havana, on "The OHADAC Caribbean Court of Arbitration" in presence of a wide audience

The ACP Legal delegation headed by Magistrate Catherine Sargenti, ACP Legal President, and Mathias Bini from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Guadeloupe took this opportunity to meet with several important institutions such as the Spanish Agency for International Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain (AECID), the International Ibero-American Public Policy and Administration Foundation (FIIAPP), the King's Bar Association of Madrid, the Complutense and King Juan Carlos Universities, and several law firms. The purpose of these meetings was to present the OHADAC and achieve institutional and academic supports.
