Report of the working meeting between the ACP LEGAL Association, the OHADAC project's team of experts, the Foundation for Continental Law, and the Henri Capitant Association of Friends of French Legal Culture, held at the Automobile Club de France in Paris on January 24, 2014.
We are pleased to inform you that the ACP LEGAL Association organized a meeting with Henri Capitant Association of Friends of the French Legal Culture, the Foundation for Continental Law, and the OHADAC project's team of experts.
The delegation of the ACP LEGAL Association was led by its President, Catherine SARGENTI, accompanied by its Vice-President, Denis LESUEUR, its treasurer, Paul BAYZELON, and its project manager concerning OHADAC, Jean Alain PENDA.
The Henri Capitant Association of Friends of French Legal Culture was led by its President, Professor Denis MAZEAUD, he was accompanied by Professor Philippe DUPICHOT, Secretary General, and Professor Cyril GRIMALDI, Deputy Secretary General of the Association. The Foundation for Continental Law was represented by its Director, Mr. Patrick PAPAZIAN.
In their capacities as experts of the OHADAC project, also were present: Professors Rodolfo DAVALOS FERNANDEZ (CUBA), Sixto SANCHEZ LORENZO (SPAIN), José Carlos FERNANDEZ ROZAS (SPAIN), and Bertrand ANCEL (FRANCE).
Catherine SARGENTI opened, over lunch, the business meeting at 12:30, which then unfolded in the following order:
- Introduction of the teams of the two Associations, of the Foundation for Continental Law, and of the experts consulted for the OHADAC project's implementation.
- Updates on the progress by the OHADAC team of experts.
- Partnership opportunities and future prospects, for the benefit of the OHADAC project.
Following the introduction of all participants, the discussion focused on opportunities for collaboration and contribution by the various partners, for the purpose of continuing and completing the analysis and inventory of the legal rules currently in force within the Greater Caribbean and the Guiana Shield. With these objectives in mind, the teams of the two Associations, the Foundation for Continental Law, and the OHADAC project's team of experts agreed as follows:
- Preparation of a tripartite master agreement for a formal partnership among the ACP LEGAL Association, the Henri Capitant Association, and the Foundation for Continental Law.
- Provision by the Association Henri Capitant of its expertise for the OHADAC project's benefit, the goal being to support the OHADAC experts in the analysis and inventorying, and the drafting of legal texts, as well as with respect to legal research in progress.
- Capacity building of the teams experts in the framework with respect to collaboration among the various parties, to ensure the success of regional legal integration as contemplated by the OHADAC project.
Upon reaffirmation of the desire for future collaboration between the ACP LEGAL Association, and the OHADAC team of experts on the one hand, and the Henri Capitant Association of Friends of French Legal Culture, and the Foundation for Continental Law on the other, the workshop ended at 15:30, the ACP LEGAL Association having committed to offer its partners a draft tripartite agreement within the following days.
