Spain, the United Kingdom and the European Commission signed in Honduras the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Central America, completed prior agreement with the Cariforum countries

APE-UE-Amerique-centrale-CARIFORM-tnThe Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Central America was signed in the framework of the XXXIX Summit of Heads of State of member countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA) and completes the similar agreement with the Cariforum countries.

The European Commission was represented by Mr. Karel de Gucht, Trade Commissioner of the EU, and Mr. Christian Leffler, Director for the Americas of the European External Action Service. Mr. Gucht said: “that with the current economic situation, it is essential that our companies can have a stable and predictable business and investment environment”.

This partnership will strengthen the legal integration of the countries of the Wider Caribbean completed the numerous free trade agreements already signed.
