B.Kreiss-M.A.Grullon-T.Marianna-Pepin-tnThe French Dominican Chamber of Commerce (CCDF) and the Regional Council of Guadeloupe signed a cooperation agreement which aims to strengthen trade ties and economic cooperation between the two Caribbean territories. The agreement was signed by Manuel A. Grullon, President of the CCDF and Thérèse Marianne-Pépin, Vice President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe, in the presence of H.E. Blandine Kreiss, Ambassador of France in the Dominican Republic.

This agreement also seeks to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of current interest for the two territories, and also to offer opportunities for exports and direct investment for both Guadeloupe & Dominican investors.

The agreement is the result of a hard work started after the visit to the Dominican Republic of H.E. Victorin LUREL, President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe, in November 2010, and clearly falls within the initiatives of commercial and institutional approach, such as the OHADAC project of harmonization of business law in the Caribbean, also led by the Council regional.

Within the program of concrete actions that both institutions are committed to realize, Grullon highlighted the hiring by the Chamber of an International Voluntary Expert in Business (VIE), who will support all initiatives between the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe. “As is stated in this document we are signing today, you can be assured that our Chamber will be an active participant in the Steering Committee of the Year of the Dominican Republic you will be held in Guadeloupe in 2013”, he said.
